Hair product portion control

PORTION CONTROL: HOW MUCH PRODUCT SHOULD I BE USING?

Too much of a good thing can be bad… especially when it comes to hair product!

To ensure you’re not going overboard on the spray and serum, we’ve produced a quick ‘n’ simple guide that’s sure to keep you in check:

1)   Serum.

Apply too much serum and you’ll be lookin’ as greasy as your fave McDonald’s burger!

To avoid this, we’d suggest using 1/2 a pump of serum (this will be roughly the size of a pea). However, if you’ve got XL long ‘n’ thick locks, aim for a full pump (roughly two peas), avoiding contact with the roots at all times!

2)      Salt spray.

You deffo don’t want to overdo it with the salt spray! Why? Cos you’ll be left with super-dry and super-crispy locks – not a good look!

Whether your hair is long or short, all you need to do is spritz lightly and evenly over your mane – this should be done straight after you’ve showered. After this just scrunch from the ends to the roots and leave to air dry.

3)    Hairspray.

Unless you want crispy ‘n’ crunchy locks, DO NOT direct the hairspray in the same area for too long!

Instead, try to move your arm back and forth continuously for roughly 3 seconds – this should be enough to hold most styles.

4)   Heat protection spray.

When it comes to heat protection spray, aim it on the mid-length and ends, avoiding direct contact with the roots! Why? Cos this will cause unnecessary grease and oil!

When applying, we’d suggest dividing your hair in half at the ears and spritzing the bottom layer. Once that’s done and dusted, release the top half and repeat. Don’t be overzealous, cos you’ll be left with dry and crispy locks – just a couple of sprays ought to do the trick!

5)      Hair mask.

There’s a fine line between a moisturised mane and an oily disaster…

So if you’re looking to revitalise and hydrate the locks, apply a dollop roughly the size of a ping pong ball, spreading from the mid-length to the ends.

There you have it! Portion control advice that’s gonna help prevent any future hairmares! Cos ain’t nobody got time for  a crunchy ‘n’ greasy style.
