HAIR MYTHS BUSTED WITH MARK HILL – CURL EDITION

HAIR MYTHS BUSTED WITH MARK HILL – CURL EDITION

When it comes to curly hair, there’s so many rumours flying around.

If you’re not sure how to separate fact from fiction, we’re here to help. We’ve taken 4 of the biggest curly hair myths and debunked them all!

1)    CURLY HAIR IS HARDER TO MANAGE.

Wrong! Curly hair is not hard, it’s just different.

Although so many people see their curly hair as a curse, it’s actually a blessing. And once you’ve got the hang of it, you’ll be managing it with ease.

For example, when brushing those curls, opt for a wide tooth comb rather than a paddle brush. And for the best results, comb them whilst they’re wet (this will keep them knot-free and prevent any unwanted frizz). See? It’s just different, not difficult!

2)    YOU NEED TO SLEEP WITH YOUR HAIR UP.

Wrong! This couldn’t be further from the truth. If you treat yourself to a silk pillowcase, you can watch all your frizz-related troubles melt away. Thanks to the super-smooth surface, your locks will glide over the case without causing too much breakage or frizz.

3)    CUTTING YOUR CURLS WILL HELP THEM GROW

Wrong! Contrary to popular belief, trimming your curls won’t make them grow any faster. However, it will get rid of any damaged ends, helping to keep your locks in tip-top condition.

4)    AIR DRYING IS THE BEST WAY TO DRY YOUR HAIR.

Wrong! This is such old-school thinking!

Although blow drying can cause a fair amount of damage, air drying has its downsides too. When your hair holds a significant amount of water for a long period of time, the proteins become weak and fragile. Solution? Try blow drying for 60/70% of the process and then leaving it to air dry. NOTE: any old blow dry won’t do! Attach a diffuser to help enhance curly shape and lessen frizz.

Get the kinks out of your mind, and soon enough you’ll be loving those curls.
